In Chelsea’s midweek Champions League clash they emerged as 3-0 winners with a changed side from Saturday’s loss to Newcastle. It seems unlikely that Mourinho will be playing Hazard, Mata, and Oscar together any time soon. Chelsea look likely to be without Fernando Torres, who is still out injured, so Samuel Eto’o should be given a start. This EPL season Chelsea has failed to score more than one goal in only four matches; the 0-0 draw to United, 1-0 loss to Everton, the 1-1 draw against Tottenham, and last weekend’s 2-0 defeat to Newcastle. Chelsea has scored 16 goals this season and allowed eight for their 20 points which puts them in second place in the table.
West Bromwich Albion
West Brom haven’t had the same spectacular start as last season, but have started out well enough. They are currently in eleventh place with 13 points and a 3-4-3 record. While they have scored ten goals, the Baggies have also allowed 10. While West Brom lost 4-1 to Liverpool two weeks ago, they have been able to defeat Manchester United at Old Trafford 2-1 and got a 1-1 draw at home to Arsenal. The latter two being very respectable results. For Saturday’s match they should have both Zoltan Gera and Steven Sinclair fit.
I’m predicting a Chelsea win, however, with Steve Clarke at the helm for West Brom, it should make for an interesting match as apprentice takes on master. West Brom has been able to get results off of other top teams this season and could get a draw or better.
Betting Odds: Chelsea win: 1.29-1.30; Draw: 5.39-5.88; West Brom win: 10.70-12.57
Form: Chelsea (W, D, W, W, W, L) West Brom (W, W, D, D, L, W)
